A recent discussion I had with a friend caused me to think about the degredation of personal relationships. This is evident in so many forms; from extremes such as one spouse murdering the other, to more subtle decay like a gradual reduction in meaningful contact. You know the kind? You once met regularly and shared intimacies with that friend but gradually the meetings are less meaningful, then less frequent, then reduced to the occassional email or SMS, before finally, that friend becomes the subject of irregular bouts of deja vous.
I’d like to pursue some of those people in 2009. Expand my circle of friends, reclaim those I’ve let drift from my life.
