The word “love” strikes gongs of infinitely varied subjectivity. When someone says “love”, what is the first meaning that floods into your mind? Is it a feeling, an action, a thought? Your answer will probably vary dependent upon the context in which it is used.
I can feel love; the kind that causes physiological changes in me – increased heart rate, blush, concern about my appearance, gushings of affection. I can also think about love; how I wish good things for others, envisage myself acting kindly toward them, how great it is be wanted, and the list goes on. All good things to me, and all expressions of love in some way or another.
Although there is no real way for us to judge the heart or intent of another human being, whatever things we may perceive at certain times, I think one of the most powerful manifestations of love is when it is a verb – an action. I define this as something I do from choice that has an impact on another that builds them.
I am going to endeavour to choose and do love more often.
