The more I think about a life led by belief in an invisible God, the more ridiculous the whole concept seems. Many people have reportedly staked their lives for God, martyrs for a cause built upon a distinct lack of concrete, if not at least credible, evidence. This is not exclusive to followers of God of course, others have demonstrated equal sacrifice for what, subjectively, may be termed less noble causes.
So why do people behave in this way? Against all reason and on the flimsiest, most tenuous link with a tangible existence people give everything they have; family, friends, self – all denied at times in favour of an unseen, unheard, unfelt God. Likewise, the unselfish of this world, without credence to any god, manage to devote, or even give up their lives for what they believe.
I can only conclude that the common link is faith, hope and love and that believing is seeing.

In all seriousness, there’s a lot of truth contained in the notion of “only believers can see the fairies”. Open eyes and open minds are the essential tools required to truly see. I often have to work on the latter, which I am sure is not uncommon.

I have to work on both (the former and the latter).
You are not alone, that is for sure
