The line in the sand

If you are anything like me you might have times of ‘self-disappointment’ in your life. I used to have them in spades but, as I’ve got older, the frequency has diminished; diminished, not gone. In my case it usually happens when I act in a way that is contrary to what I know is good.

So how do you get around feeling like that? Can you just ignore that mental “tap on the shoulder” – should you? I think all I can do is re-draw the proverbial “line in the sand” (in the desert of my conscience), right back in the same place it was, dust myself off and carry on.

Perhaps in our times of self disappointment we need to assess if the manner in which we battle against our self defeating habits is effective, and try a new tactic. It seems we all try and overcome our personal battles in the same way each time, not realising that to see change we must change our way of dealing with the issue.

This makes sense to me. If you keep using the same method and it continues to fail, then change the method. I will think on this.
